Also Shalafi I would like to see a "Outpost" style base. Something smaller than a BS maybe just a B 3x ph4 etc. Maybe have a fancy upgrade one that (for say +20EP) you can put special sensors on for a 2 hex look? I have always wanted to expand on the bases in the game. that's something I have considered doing but it put in the "maybe if I get around to it" section we're doing a BIG jump with adding the hyperspace rules in and adding too many things to chew on may be bad...

True but a B base is easy to add,.. sub out the chore to a shiplist miester, then just get sent the export file.

yea I know it's simple to do... its the added effect of altering how the game functions in addition to the hyperspace rules... and for the scale of the campaign would they really be that useful?

I would recommend for a B station, using the Orion Base station(BS). It is devoid of the heavy phaser 4s, being replaced by the phaser 1s. It takes the punch out of the base(to a degree), and puts the defences still there, but without ships to defend it, it would fall easily enough.
This would save having to make a new one, just by stating that all B stations are Orion BS stations.

An elegant and simple solution for a forward base,.. the cost should be set. If I remember correctly BS=100 and BATS=200 Suggestion B=60 No building allowed, only repair at 50/turn. BS=75 BATS=100 Also just throwing this out there, and base can be equiped with long range special sensors for +20 EP. This could effect disengagment rolls at a base and allow longer range looks. In the past all bases had special sensors, as a Ref I deleted that because it complicated turn resolution for me and I kept missing sightings. Shalafi you need to carefully decide if this is something you want to deal with. I did not,.. but I sure would like it in the game LOL

What about an asteroid base for repair only?

Well hopefully it has some weapons on the thing. I remember them from Dynaverse (if they are the same) and they mounted some firepower but would defer to others on this as I know little about them. I had also seen in the past ideals for a Scout base/listening post base (long range view, etc). Crowd Roars as Kumar Posts again,... The chants fade,... KUMAR,... kumar,....

www.sfbuaw.com/B5mapsaved.htmthat is how it currently stands.... there is the outside chance that a planet or two may be added if there is a need for additional races. Jumpgate positions have not been added as of yet.. Hyperspace map coming soon.

well now as the start approachs, here is a question for you. will a cloak device work in hyper space? and if so how will it affect movement?

There was also a Q&A thread question about cloaks that was never answered reguarding deployment of sensor bouys while under cloak. I could see going either way with that, no clear answer, just a ruling that needs to be made.
