Eros sat back and rubbed his eyes. 16 straight hours of trying to decipher the readings. Or more honestly lack of readings on the mystery ship, if that is what it is. The Sihio had discovered it after receiving orders to travel to a specific sector of hyper space. Did home know what they would find? Before they had sent them there? If they had known they had not given them any warning. So Eros had his doubts on that score. Despite the wild rumors to the contrary, that floated aboard ship. Everything from it being a Shadow "mastership". To rouge black hole. He scoffed at the latter if it was a black hole they would of been sucked in as soon as they entered the sector. then he wondered, do black holes even exist in hyper space? A sharp look from the senior science team member LT Scafai. Quickly snapped him back to his task. The inability of the scanners and sensors to lock on to anything . Baffled everyone. Not only could did they fail to find any information . But it seemed like when "it" was probed the readings were redirected away from "it". Combined with the energy fluctuations which occurred when ever they got too close. He had concluded that "it" was directing a sophisticated self defense system. whether "it" was aware of them or not. Was still be debated among the "team" and senior officers. The team believed "it" was unaware of them, or "it" wasn't concerned with them. Some of the senior officers weren't so sure about that! And had urged the captain to break off his pursuit of "it". However, Eros was sure, the captain "as stubborn as he is" would stick to his plan . Of following "it". At least until home told him otherwise, or they figured out what "it' was. And where "it" was going. So Eros turned back to his station and began to run the program for Gravity-waves in an alpha flux. There had to be a way to Peirce that field! . ....

Mars , handed the orders he had drawen up. To deal with the mystery frigate. And relief mission for the colony. To his aide, to deliver to Maximus. Now if Maximus approved the plan he would move on to excuting thier responce to the "cylons". None too sure, what to make of the Cylons. Mars was skeptical of the wild reports circulating around about them. Some claimed they were just what they appeared to be. A race of robots. Others, those of a more cynical nature. Were claiming they that it was all an elaborate ploy by Sheridan. The latter, just did not feel right. The messages, that had been sent had an errily alien nature to them. Mars was inclined to error on the side of safety. His recomendation to Maximus . Would be to investigate the whereabouts of the Cylons. Entering EA space under, the pretext that they were on a mission of intergalatic diplomancy. The Fleets sent to deal with the potenial threats of the Cylons. For the galaxy as a whole. Would be much harder for Sheridan to protest over. They also may be able the anwser, "other" considerations. In that area. The current events haved reached the boiling point. Something was going to happen very soon. All the episodes surrouding the mysterious Red ships. The Cylons, The Drakah. It was sure to lead to conflicts. Only time would tell if the choices made by Maximus were "good" choices. However Mars had been serving under Maximus for over two years now. He had seen him action . Had heard all the complaints before . He's too reckless, Does not consider the conseques, always, wants to use a hachet where a scapel is needed. He has a trigger finger reponse, to everything. etc etc.... Maybe some of his critics are right. But somehow, someway, his choices had worked out . In thier last assiginment they had faced daunting odds. But they had overcome them . So now, with not just the Empire's fate, in the balance, but maybe the entire galaxy. Mars would place his faith in his commander. Maximus i pray to my name sake that your right this time as well.

Sir? sir it's begun. Yes fine i will be there in a minute. Mars sat back and wondered what the commander would have to say when he addressed the crew. they both had known this day was coming. They even had a pretty good estimate of the timetable thanks to Proclaimous's diligent endeavors. The real question was , or questions are. Did anyone else know? And what if anything did they do, or not do? The best laid plans.... Mars felt these were indeed some well thought out plans. The next 48 hours would tell.

Sir, news from ****, Yes? There is a CA there sir, our forces are pursuing it as ordered sir. Just one CA? Apparently sir. Our sources have conflicting reports on the home-world too. Seems our intelligence was not accurate . We thought the CA would be at ****. After all the traffic, we intercepted. Our analyst's believed, it would be preparing to defend . Or intercept the EA forces known to be in that area. Yes i was thinking along those lines also. But, the forces in ****. Should be able to defeat one CA. . Any word on the EA forces in that area? Are they attacking the ISC home-world? Or did they change course? Sir if the reports we have intercepted are accurate. It appears that the clown, err um i mean president Sheridan. Has indeed chosen to attack the home-world. Yes, i can see where he would! Earth under attack, From the Cylons. And he heads the opposite direction! Well, the polls still show him leading Ho Chi Meeow . So at least his populace still think he knows what he is doing! Any word from colony? No sir, the task force should know soon however. I let them down Mars. . I should have kept more forces there. Sir at the time we needed those forces elsewhere. And the alien ships had not even been sighted yet. Yes yes, true but still we left them undefended. 4000, souls Mars their blood on my hands. . Oh how i pray that red devil is still there! "Remember the Takeo!" Sir the forces have orders sir if they encounter the red frigate, show no mercy no prisoners. Excellent, Though they still will have a fight. The emergency probe of the Takeo was retrieved. And from the information in logs. That red frigate is one tough ship! And the Sihio? Still on course sir. They have not reported any further sightings of the ship. If that is was, what it was. They were able to shadow it for a while, but lost contact. The sensors just are not designed for tracking whatever it was. Very well, that worries me Mars. Do whatever we can to find out what it was! Yes sir, it will be hard sir. Not many recourses in that sector. Yes i am aware of that. But do what you can. Now about the warnings the Fly issued. Well sir only time will tell. He could be playing the bluff game. However we are committed to our plans now. Too late to back out , even if we believe him. And the whatever he is railing about is true. I agree we can't change course now. And we will face tomorrow as we always have. With faith in ourselves and our people. Maximus stands up and offers mars a glass of romulan ale. Salute! "Long live the Empire"! Mars echoed back Yes indeed! "Long live the Empire"! ;D

Sir i think you may want to see this! Mars handed the message to Maximus and stood back looking for all the world like a mountain pumax who had just eaten a ca'nairous . The smile on his face hidden only by his hand "itching" his nose. The expression on Maximus's face never changed . He read the message and returned it to Mars. And so , the Fly flees the web! Eh Mars? Yes it would seem just so my lord. The EA fleet will move in unopposed. Pity the poor souls on the station . Do you think Sheridan will allow them to evac, to to planet before destroying it? Well, i would not be surprised by anything, that clown does! But i suspect he will allow them to evac. After all why not? And it will make for great press too. And with him, it's always been about keeping the spotlight on himself! He bags the base and the press, and forces the Fly to flee toward us. Making us the bad guys if we engage the "poor fleeing fleet ". A stroke of luck for the clown , thats for sure.! I am surprised, that the Fly did not choose to defend his homeworld though. From the reports i received from proclaimous. It seems they had 2 healthy ships there. and one that could have been pulled out of the repair bays. that and the Battle Station. May very well have been enough to destroy the EA fleet. Yes sir it may have. but then he would have had to face either a Minbari fleet, or ours. Perhaps Mars perhaps. But he could of fled in that case . At least he would have had a shot at weakening the EA before losing his capitol ,though. Still i see your point "he who flees lives to fight another day"! And i am sure the Fly will fight another day! The clown may come to regret this day. Mars shuffled his feet and looked nervously at his commander. does that include us as well, my lord? Maximus sat back and laughed a deep belly laugh. ;D Ah Mars you slay me sometimes! he said. " What me worry"? No my fine young friend I'll have no regrets. We warriors who have lived so long with the sword poised over out heads . Have all learned one thing that is certain. Once the die is cast. It is cast. And the gods don't let mere mortals thwart their games! So play the it out to the end and trust that you have done all you can do . In the end it's the gods of war who will laugh ,or cry. And even they will play again. Theres always mortals to throw away! So lets get on with the game, Mars the gods hate delays!

As the young Lt returned to his post at the comm station. Maximus placed the copy of the message on the pad beside his command chair. He winked at Mars, who was holding the C-pad. Currently displaying the star charts. Never seem to anxious for news, commander. Maximus whispered under his breath, to his xo.And then in a normal voice , bring up the sections between the Vorlon nebula and 2417. So the Fly flew out from under the swatter to? This sector here my lord, said Mars pointing at the pad. Mm interesting. Do you think they were in a hurry ? I would of thought, they would have supported the CA. Well my lord they seemed to have taken by surprise by the EA's fleet sudden appearance out of hyper space. Maybe it was a nav error? Yes possible i suppose. But, i sure would like to have seen the Flys face. When they dropped back into space from the warp. And he found out Their location! He must have been vivid ! In any case all the better for us. Now however we must move to plan B. That clumsy oath Sheridan. can't even bring his fleet out of hyper in the correct sector! The Fly never should gotten the chance to flee! Now we have to deal him. But then that may have been Sheridan's plan all along My lord said Mars. Yes maybe , but i think your giving to much credit to Sheridan. And not enough to the Fly. So commander which way will the fly move next? My Lord if i were him i would move here. Yes that would make sense. But then ......

The ISC, having plotted to move into the CA hex, and being thwarted by the gods(REF AND RULES), ended up 1 sector East. At least it ended up being Empty space.

Never fear, for the ISC will not only damage the Romulan swine, but emerge VICTORIOUS over the 3 Rom ships, sending all of them to their doom RIBBIT, RIBBIT, RIBBIT.

Maximus , was in a bitter mood. The crew was careful not to draw his attention. Nobody, wanted too face the Praetor , when the the dark clouds filled his eyes. Even Mars walked softly and avoided him. But, the Praetor was in his cabin, for now... Mars had known "the mood" would surface when he read the battle report. Not just any CA, but the flagship of the ISC fleet. None had expected that. . The flagship! In a sector by it's self? Very very unusual. Yes it was only a sector off the home-world. still, such luck, if luck it was. Is indeed almost unheard of. The battle itself was a forgone conclusion. 3 on 1. And 3 strong ships for their class at that. The flagship had fought hard and well. It had even managed to damage all three of the CL'S. But in the end, the Romulan wolf pack . Trapped the flagship. Grabbing it with a tractor beam. Then swarmed in for the kill. It was a victory for the empire. It was a battle forced upon them. The Romulan empire stands by it's word. The treaty was singed in advance. It had even been proposed to the EA by proclaimous. "We have struck a blow in defense of the EA. As agreed to. And stand ready to strike again . Until the threat is subdued." That was how Maximus addressed the crew after word of the battle reached them. Still all could sense "the mood". He praised the captains of the vessels in the battle. A job well done. Then turned and beamed out to his cabin. His aide would be the only one to face him with routine messages "till further notice". Mars had seen it before. Maximus, " The hammer" The tool which was wield by the Empire to enforce it's will. He would submit to being the "the hammer" But he took no joy in his victories, It seemed as if each victory stole a piece of his soul. He had once mentioned a quote to Mars. Any deal with the devil leads to d**nation. No matter the intent. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." If war is evil then we're all dammed, thought Mars. Let the crew celebrate the victory . Soon enough the winds of war would chill their souls as well....
