Ya I agree with most of what you say. There is a situation though that whenever something new (rule) is introduced it has the potential to create unforeseeable problems. Any newly introduced rules will be more flexable due to that. The roster was brand new and created challenges to all of us. The roster rules seemed flexable as we tried to see what worked best. I have not seen old "established" rules showing any signs of unwanted manipulation during the game.
I will predict as we explore Jump Gates and Hyperspace in the next game, that we may well see a similar situation occur. It is unlikely that such a dramatic and fundamental change in the mechanics of our game can be perfectly pulled off from the get go (this is more dramatic than a roster by far). Players should not try to strictly enforce rules about hyperspace that may turn out to be broken and may need tinkering during the game.
It is hard work to develope new rules, and if they need some wiggle room to grow that should be accepted. These new rules and changes we make keep the game alive and spicy, they can also pose problems.
This is just my 2 cents and Shalafi will in the end, determine any flexablity or lack thereof.
