Captain Sidmark sat stone faced. His crew knew that look. They busily worked their consoles. And tried their best to fly under the sensor net. Swanson, Yes captain? How far out are we? Ah, let me see, Swanson looked over his nav panel. Sir at warp 3.5 we can be there in 20.5 hours. If we push it to warp 4. 16. Warp 4 Gorth, make it happen. Aye sir warp 4. it is. Gorth risked a quick worried glance over at first mate Swanson. No need to worry so he heard over his shoulder . This ole bucket will hold together. I've pushed her harder than this before , remarked Swanson. Yes mister Swanson I'm sure your right about that, chimed in Fredrick. I didn't spend three weeks installing those new power couplings, for nothing you know. I'm glad you all approve of my decision . Sidmark growled . Once again the crew of the Falcon. Turned back to their consoles. And silence prevailed . Captain Sidmark rose and headed for his cabin. After he had left the bridge . So you gave him the missive, what the hell was on it? Swanson looked back at Fredrick and and shrugging his shoulders, I think you will have to ask the captain about that yourself. I'm not telling! Fredrick turned back to his console and muttered under his breath, yeah like I'm going to do that! Swanson snorted , uh huh. I thought so.

d**n them! d**n them to perdition! Scotty O'tool, kept reaching back behind him for his optical adjuster. Fumbling through the pile of tools in his work-box. Not able to find it, he kept up a steady stream of inventive curses, until at last he found his quarry. A savage satisfied grin broke his angry demeanor. Carefully switching the adjuster to his other hand. He then hooked the scope cable to the sensor reader. Now lets see what those bastages did to me filters! Switching the the adjuster on he began to reading the input. Hold still or I'll just put you under and then, WHEN I FEEL LIKE IT. I'll get around to splinting that fracture of yours! Sorry doc, I , i just need to get back to the bridge. We all need to be somewhere, leaf Right now you need to be here"sitting still" till i can mend your arm. Yeah right doc uh how long? How for me to mend it ? or how long till you get to be a thorn in someone else's side? Um the second doc. Oh i would say ...... there done! Go on Leaf. Head back to bridge just try to be more careful next time your blown off your feet. Try landing on your ass Then all we have to worry about is some minor brain damage! Yeah real funny doc real funny! But ah ,thanks ,see ya. leaf Johnson, hopped off the table he had been sitting on. And was out of the sic bay door. Before doc Sawyer had even replaced the mender back on the tray, beside the table. Your sure? Yes. d**n, d**n d**n d**n! How long Scotty? Well that depends , Depends on what? Oh whether, how long you can keep her from getting into trouble, cappy. Yeah yeah ,trouble seems to have it's way, no matter what i "try" to do lately. Well cappy, in that case. A day to re-manufacture, and if i cut some corners, and ignore the safety settings, um..... 3 maybe 4 hours to replace. Thats if trouble leaves us alone that long. Umph! that's a pretty big "if" Scotty. Guess, "it is what it is though". Get to it . "trouble waits not", as they say. Aye cappy. Don't worry cappy I'll have the Sparrow flying true , she's a tough bird cappy! ;D

Ensign , take this report over to Commander Desktopp's office. Aye aye sir. And i want his reply as well, ensign. Understood ,sir. Commander ,Desktopp. ensign Runner, I have a message for you from Commander Beancounter. Very well lets see what stick is up his... Oh just hand it over. Yes sir, he also instructed me to return with your reply sir. Oh he did, did he? Very well wait outside then, no actually go on grab some personnel time. 'My reply," may take a while. Yes sir understood. Desktopp didn't quite slam the door in ensign's runner's face. But that was only due to the rapid about-face the young ensign performed. After having been given personnel time, in the middle of the day! As Desktopp walked back to his desk. He fumbled with the envelope, barely avoiding spilling the pages on the floor. But none the less after plopping his considerable backside back in his chair. He began to read the overly detailed report from Beancounter. Any report that came out of the Beancounters office. Would be precise, in detail. very, precise in spelling. punctuation, format, and of course instructions. What they always lacked was insight or reason! Desktopp had once been a highly thought of , up'n come'r. Ship commander Until that incident over on the Romulan neutral zone, 7 years ago. d**n that Maximus! Now he was the chief section head for the office of external shipping security. A fancy title for the guy who. Had to read all the reports on pirate activities. And there never seemed to be any shortage of those! In fact in the last year and a half the number of reports had sky rocketed. Speculation for that, ran in many different directions. Some of the most popular ones being. Privateering, internal black ops. external black ops, and of course new "alien" races. His own personnel favorite. Was the Rouge Borg collective. A report theorizing that after the defeat of the Borg in the B-52, galaxy. And the loss of their queen. That some of the surviving vessels, simply elected to continue assimilating on their own. Not as a collective , Instead just continuing on, as if nothing had happened at all. Of course "everyone" knows, that the Borg drones all went inactive, once the command presence of the queen was destroyed. But still the thought of Rouge Borg vessel out there . Was one he had a hard time dismissing. There was not a shred of evidence to support that theory. But ...... Still that was not going to help him wade his way through the latest pile of Beancrap! um report. So lets See what is so urgent he needs my immediate reply.

Report. Sir, fleet status, ships lost, none. The omega cloud, light damage , Repairing, Captain Snuggs says they will be 100% before departure. The Saber, took some damage to it's engines and suffered 30% hull damage. It will require a F.R.D. for complete repairs. However they still have engines and life-support, Captain Borous, assures me "they can make it home". We only have minor shield damage. and engineering, reports that will be fixed before departure time. Casualties, fleet wide 8%. Sir. Thank you , I want a A.A.R. from all ships on my desk before we leave the system. Yes sir. Also send my regards and job well done to Saber and Cloud. They were a stubborn lot. But with their base gone. They are going to have to, find a new home now. I just wish the frigate hadn't gotten away. Yes sir. But who would of thought that cruiser would sacrifice it's self the way it did. I have never seen a pirate that wasn't out to save their own hide first. He fought more like .... Well a real naval officer. His tactics and elan were impressive. Too bad we couldn't have captured them. Sir their self-destruct systems are almost fool proof. Yes, yes they are that, aren't they. Still i would of been interested in meeting that commander. Well lets get on with it then . dismissed. Sir.

Captain, we're at The rendezvous point. Very well power up the long range scanner. If it's clear drop to impulse and... Yes sir, don't worry sir, Sparrow is a good ship sir I'm sure they got everyone out, sir. I, i hope your right. Sir scanners up. looks good sir no body here . At least nobody who is not suppose to be. Very well drop us down mister, and have the crew stand ready , just in case. Aye sir , here we go. 2/3 impulse. shields up. yellow alert. Commander. Yes? The warning buoy is sending sir. A ship dropping in the system sir. Should i go active on the buoy sir? yes , go ahead, but be ready to re-cloak it. Aye sir, buoys going active now..... Sir, it's good news sir!! ;D It's the Condor. sir. Excellent!! So the message got through from the base after all. With all that jamming going on ...well thank the gods! At last something gone our way! Uncloak us . and send our regards. I'm sure , Palin will want to hear that we got his family out of there. Yes Sir! Sending now. Sir receiving traffic from one of our buoys sir. Good news sir, they were able to evac the station. your family is safe sir! ;D All our non-com's made it off the base sir. d**n! d**n! The Swan is gone sir! . She took on the those bastages. all by herself to cover the retreat. Bought the Sparrow enough time to evac the base and get away. But there's no doubt sir they have the sensors log of her S.D. Does look like she hurt'em before she blew though! Good ole Barnsworth. He knew the cost but.... Very well ... how long to rendezvous? Sir sparrow is still repairing. So , ah I make it 2 hrs sir. Very well lets see if we can't knock a bit off that. They have to pretty cramped over there. Have the Medics ready when we get there and send to Sparrow. Thank You, and job well done!

Thank you coming , and thank you and your crew for getting our people out of there. Your welcome , and well we never would have been able to do it, if it weren't for the Swan. . Yes but none the less you and your crew did do it. And we are all grateful. But, please have a seat. Captain Wells nodded back to his clans leader. Omar Palin, the "infamous Omar" in some circles. But for members of the Phoenix clan, He was held in almost God-like awe. He had taken a rag tag group of pirates and a collective group of misfits and outcasts. Pulled them all together, and formed the Phoenix clan. And for the last 7 years the Phoenix had grown to be the single largest pirate clan in operation. Oh there were others, but most of them were, actually privateers, or Orion's, or Wyn. But the Phoenix had recruited , and built up their own. All under Omar's guiding hand. They even had their own base station! Well had , had their own station. Till that Fed task force stumbled onto it. a lousy break that was! Now all that was left of the base was drifting space junk in the altorn asteroid belt. So tell me , how are your repairs going commander? Wells looked Palin in the eye and shrugged. As well as can be expected i guess. O"tool is a good as they come. But even he,can't manufacture spare parts out of thin air. Yes of course , i understand but... Well O'Tool assures me that we will be fit for action. Before the 5 day is over sir. That is good news, we'll need you ready by then commander. Eh? What's up ? We're going back commander. What! Going back ! But they know sir, they know ! They probably have tracking buoys all over by now. If we go back now, they'll know before we even get out of warp sir! Yes, thats true, but the rest of the clan will be joining us there. And we're not going to stick around for long. Just long enough to rally. And then out. It's risky! Aye, that it is . but the feds most likely don't have any larger task forces than the one that hit the base, close enough to hit us. Still sir, they may sir. After all Swan hurt one of them, pretty good and ... Yes i know, but we need to regroup. And we still have a ace up our sleeve. So then ,Jeremy's mission was a success? Yes we found out last night. They not only captured her, they were able to take almost the whole convoy with her! ;D He will meet up with us after our rally. I already sent him ahead to our new home sector. And where is that going to be ? The Outlands. Wells jaw dropped! and his eyes popped open The, the Outlands! But but .... Relax commander, the Borg haven't been active there for years. Once they moved into our galaxy for the B-5 campaign. I sent the Tern out there . She's been scouting it out for the last 6 months. she has it almost all mapped out for us. and there is some excellent terrain out there for a new home. Plus , and keep this under your hat. Tern found a abandoned. Gateway out there. they think that it can be re-powered if we can get ZPM . And we have a ZPM? Not yet commander . not yet......

Ensign, report. Sir the gate is working again. Oh . Then what happened? I, I'm not sure sir. One minute everything was running without a problem then... Yes then??? Well sir then we lost the dynamic feedback. So the locking sensors automatically shutoff. Which triggered the auto shutdown squence....sir OK now in plain English if you please. Sir the D.F circuit, ah the dynamic feedback. Is what allows us to monitor the connections stability. to the other side of the wormhole. It feeds it's data to the locking sensors which control the frequency settings for the gate. OK i think I'm following you so far. Well sir, so when we lost the D.F. the L.S.A "s loss of data. initiated the automatic safety shutdown. The gate turn its self of sir. To prevent anyone one from the other side using it. Right . But now it's turned its self back on again? Uh, well, Not exactly sir What do you mean not exactly? Sir it did restart operating . but .... But! But it wasn't suppose to be able to re-power it self sir. That is we have a override program to prevent that. It appears your OVERRIDE program needs some work ensign. Sir yes it appears so . Thats what i had the gate techs working on. Um let me guess. They can't find any problem with the override, right? Sir that's correct sir, so i told them to write a new override and let me know when it is ready. And that would be?? Sir they haven't notified me of their schedule yet. But you just told me the gate is working again! Yes sir, I, um, ah, er, well it is working sir, but it doesn't have the override. So you see there's a chance a very small chance, that well.... Spit it out ensign. Sir there's a chance a very small chance, an outside force could possibly maybe ....take control of it. If we dial up a gate exit that isn't um already under our control....sir alright now, let me see if i understood everything you've just told me. First the gate is working. Second the override program is shutdown. Third unless we dial up a hostile gate, we should be OK. And fourth. you STILL DON"T KNOW! Why in the hell we lost the D.F'n thing in the first place! Does that about sum it up ensign!? Sir i...i yes sir i guess it does. Very well ensign dismissed oh and please let me know when that new override is finished. Sir yes sir. Ensign Ben Dover about faced and just about ran out of general Hammond's office.

Danell Jackksen leaned back against the door of his cabin . He smiled, and rubbed his hands together. HA! He thought. ;D. I ought to get Ozkarr for that performance! The test, had run to perfection. And the techs were just as baffled as he knew they'd be. One week, just one more 5 day. And he would be on Verga 4 sipping romulan ale. With a green orion pleasure lady, maybe 2 ladies! ;D ;D No more bumbling about. Bowing and ass-kissing every officer on this stinking rock! Nope, ensign Dover, will have the last laugh. And then the high and mighty General Hammond can .... ;D Cause after i deliver the goods Omar's man, I'll be rolling in credits and long gone! Bye bye Gen'rl, Hello Verga! ;D

What the H. E. double toothpicks! Is going on ? How , how did they they know? that convoy was on double top secret priority routing! Sir it appears that there was an un-authorized transmission . from one of the freighters, about 18 hours before their interception. The Fencer, got off a emergency probe before they boarded her. and we found that in it's log. So at least they got off a probe. What else was did it have? Sir looks like its the dirty birds again.Er, i mean the Phoenix clan. The probe had some of attacking ships warp signatures. and one matches the the Heavy cruiser we our Intel sections says is theirs. So while we while we were wiping out their base. They were busy capturing the biggest convoy in the sector. looks like that way sir. Now we know why they only had the light cruiser and a frigate at their home. And we still don't know where that cursed Omar is! I don't like it . i don't like it one bit! In fact i want Jacob's fleet back there as soon as they can get their wounds healed. And send in Wilson's too. That ought too finish those "birds" off once and for all! But sir if we send Wilson's fleet, well... Yes ,yes I know that will only leave the pickets at Farside. But Farside has its minefields and is fully operative Star-Base now. Not even that crazy bastage Omar is about to mess with that. And the Romulans are busy feuding with the Klingons "as usual". So they aren't about to stir up any trouble with the Federation. No i think sending Wilson's fleet along is perfectly fine. After all With the fire power of full carrier group. And Jacobs battle squadron. we should have it all over fairly quickly. They should be back in time for, the inauguration of the new Federation president, Walter, Head-Fur. It will make a present for his inauguration don't you think? Uh , yeah ER i mean yes sir!

Sir, Sparrow reports that she's ready. Very well we don't have any time to waste. Send to Sparrow, departure time 1600. Standard rendezvous protocols. Aye sir sending . Engineering. Engineering here, We kickoff 1600. Aye sir. Palin looked down over the arm of his command chair. The brief with all the documents was leaning against the side of the chair. He heard his first officer begin the "routine'. 1550. Ten minutes. Nav? Nav ready sir. Comm? Comm ready sir. The stations call went on, he had heard it all countless times before. his mind was not on the "routine". He was thinking. What have i missed? What could, should i change? Everything, all the intelligence, the research, the multistage planning. Right there, in one small brief, at his fingertips. The entire future of his clan . Over two years of planning. Two years of operation reports. And now in a few more minutes they would kick off. Warp out, meet the rest of the clan back in the Altorn asteroid belt. All except....Commander Fly . The Fly everyone called him that. Omar wondered how many even knew his real name? Flavious Darus. How long had been since they met? Omar started counting back the years since he and "fly" had first met. He chuckled. It drew some curious stares from the bridge crew. Waving his hand dismissively, they returned to the "routine". So many years, he knew the Fly wouldn't let him down. that is why he got the mission And he was correct the fly hadn't let him or the clan down. In fact he even exceeded The Mission.outlines. And Omar was certain of one thing. If they were able to pull off the rendezvous. and leave the Altorn belt. The Fly would be waiting right where he was supposed to be for them. Then, all they had to do, was hope that Jackksen was as good as his word. And of course that the ZPM. Could indeed do what needed doing! Nothing to worry about all! Just a stroll through the park. Nothing to lose at all. Just our entire clan and everything we've planned for. piece of cake. Lfesupport? Lifesupport ready sir. Thats it , then sir. 1559. In that case lets kick this off. 1600. Warp us out! ;D

Captain, Darus looked down at Omar's latest orders. The Outlands ? Why would he send us out there? After all, a Federation Fleet Repair Dock. wasn't exactly your normal run of the mill convoy target. Add to that, the fact they had even captured 6 of the eight supporting freighters. And destroyed the Escorts , of 2 Cl's and a DD. Of course he knew now, that their home had been found and destroyed. So his original thoughts of the victory bash had changed to one of dismay. Still, the Outlands? Clearly Omar had something up his sleeve. Darus trusted Omar more than any other living being he knew. And if Omar wanted them to head to the Outlands. Then the Outlands it would be. On the bright side, the convoy had been stuffed to bursting with supplies. It looked as if the Federation had been planning to use it along with the F.R.D. for the start of a new base. And that may well have been in the "old" home sector. The "Fly" set his orders down and .....Mister Holmes. Yes sir? Set a new heading. .Were heading out. Aye sir , and where are we heading out to? The Outlands mister Holmes, the Outlands.
