So there is all this talk of raising taxes on the weathy americans back to pre Bush levels. So I wondered what were tax rates like over the last hundred years on the wealthy. To be honest I had no clue. What I found really shocked me,.. the chart below shows tax rates on the top income earners in the US since the turn of the century. Who would have thought !!!!! Absolutly amazing !!! Please keep this information below in your mind,.. the next time you hear a conversation about tax rates on the wealthy. LOL www.truthandpolitics.org/top-rates.php

I agree and also am shocked. I suppose we should go back to the mid 40s and tax all money made over $200,000 at the rate of 94%. Just having some fun with you there scott....actually it is very hard to interpret this listing if you read the fine print it goes into why.

No I thought those rates were ridiculous in the 50's and could not believe they were such. Blew my mind to see em there. I did read the fine print. Exactly Warp,... taxes are very complicated filled with loop holes. For example Warren Buffet who made billions last year paid only a 15% rate. His secretary paid 32% rate. So even though the chart says warren should pay 28% he really doesn't. That is pretty much the extent of the fine print. www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/27/AR2007062700097.html?hpid=sec-politics
