How did you guys feel about using new ships and races for B5, I worried about the potential imbalance they might bring to the game. After having played this game for a decade I wanted something new. So do you guys like new stuff like what the B5 game introduced or is the preference to always stick with the stock, well tested, and mostly balanced ships and races ?
I ask this cause I feel a way down the road stirring to run a mega campaign and persuade some of the old crew to step back into the game and potentially bring the largest gathering of players ever seen, into the biggest most detailed, interesting campaign ever seen.
This would be like a year or more down the road. But remember the B5 game was 9 months in the works before release.
Also another chance to critique the B5 game, do so anonymously if it is really harsh.

They were a lot of fun. The only change I think I would do overall is to bring some of the really big B5 ships down a notch or three so they're closer to the OP stock ships... still individually more powerful but actually able to be killed.

It's hard to gauge the power or incapability of some ships. The tried and true is best

My guess is the more experienced players who are tired of the same old will say new stuff is cool, those who have not worn out the basic stuff will opt to stay with that.
Still,.. all input appreciated.

Yes they were fun but more work on should be done for the size issues we ran into.

Yes they were not perfect, size issues, GII issues, general balance issues.
I ask because rather than spend time refining such ships and or adding more I wanted to get a feel for what players thought about them and the attempt to add new stuff into the game.
Certainly as a first try it was full of issues, just wondering if it is worth clearing them up or canning new stuff.
I think we all learned a lot about shiplists and new ships. So for a mega game in the future my ? is should we consider clearing up those issues, toying with having new races like Tholian or others. Or just go with same old same old.
Gotta gear any campaign to players majority wishes and I am wondering what they are.
PS our skill levels have also changed. I think there is less variability in the crew. Before some players were really new, now many have moved into a central area/or dropped out,... with less extremes.

The new ships are fun. They just needed to be more balanced with the other ships in the game.

New ships are always nice, but a huge imballance is not good in ships. More care need be taken on model sizing as well. OTT(overthetop) ships need be pulled unless there is a specific reason for such ship.

My thought for the mega game is to actually outsource the new stuff to a consortium of players. Primarily Dlfy and Shalifi. They would build/balance the new stuff I seek.

Wow in this vote the players have spoken,.. Now how to craft a shiplist,... SHALAFI,... DFLY,.... Shalafi, you had mentioned an interest in revisiting the B5 game,.. that was sorta something I was also interested in if players voted this way. Maybe we could colaborate on some ideals, and see what each of us is thinking. I liked the ideal of hammering out the tricky Jumpgate rules,.. exspanding the old map. Maybe visiting a time before our last game (that could explain nicely the paired down shiplist and more even B5 races.) Maybe there would be reason to visit to such a time or a time after our current game. Time has always been something I wanted to tinker with in a campaign. It does open some very unusaul ideals,.. Time,.. who has enough of it,.... Or who has had too much of it ! ! ! !

sounds like a plan....
the one I was plotting around with in my head was set probably 25 or so years after our last campaign would have ended....

Shalafi how would you explain pairing down the heavy handed B5 units, or do we just outfit the other races with even larger stuff like BB's and Super Killer Hawks, oh wait you had those I think we also need to up the ships in the B5 races, not too many models for them, but there always could be varients using the same model. Maybe we could eliminate some races, they just did not make 25 more years, or they get absorbed into one nation, like the Narn/Centauri mega nation ?

one request here, battleships, can be fun but "IMHO". they are bit too much firepower. as a single BB is usually worth 2 or 3 heavy cruisers. The evp system would almost have to be increased . And Scott you know where that leads! Bigger fleets, and all the strategic, tactical, and latency problems that come with them.
