I am all for faster. Should not be a problem with just 2 teams I think.

Battle Rules have been added and may still need some revisions. PLease look them over. Many other rules have been cleaned up and moved to a more appropriate spot. at: sfbuaw.com/PirateRules.doc

Some notes: "1- The Commander of the attacking and defending fleet must fly in the battle" This could be read as the "Faction Leader must be present", as nowhere in the rules it states that there will be "local commanders". It does say so in the background.doc but it could be misleading for new players. The other rule that may be difficult to enforce is this one: DAMAGED SHIPS LOOSING REPAIRS A ship looses one repair in space dock during combat for each 10% damage received. Example: a ship has 82% health left… it would start with 1 less repair than normal. (100 -10=90 90-10=80 it has more than 80% but less than 90% so it would start with one fewer repair… if it was at 79% health it would start with 2 fewer repair boxes) Cause you cannot tell if the player has changed the number of parts. This may just be a "honor system" rule. But with all the new guys coming it could be a problem. Anyway, my oppinion is leave it as it is, but keep an eye open. Otherwise, very good job. Its very clear and pretty much everything (minefields? ) we've discussed is in there. I will probably work on putting all that in an html web page (argh, so much stuff so little time!!!! ) instead of in a .doc (which is a proprietary format btw) so it's more accessible. P.S.: Hey guys, what do you think of converting the page to a wiki? Now that there's a bunch of us messing with the pages, it could make life easier for everyone AND keep a record and who's doing what. Those who ever edited a wiki can understand the benefits, those who havent: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WikiWe use it at Montevideo Libre (Free Montevideo: www.montevideolibre.org) and it's worked wonders for us.

I agree, why is the commander must fly line in there? Actually he doesn't have to fly, wing #1 will command if he has trouble at the last minute making the game?
Yes enforcement will be honor on the repair, unless subtracting a box changes BPV value of the fleet? Fleet totals should be seen by all sides for verification. Refs still should host games or another player, like Dfly, as we have done in the past.
From my point of view the minefields have not yet been agreed on by a majority of players. I think the vote, even with me trying for a simple version was still 50% yes 50% no. There was no consensous on the rules.
Also with all the new players George will have his hands full resolving a 16-18 player game. No sense making it harder for him.
Wiki may be a good ideal, but for now only Dfly and myself are changing the rules. He (nor I) are not fundamentally changing any rule, only rephrasing it better. If he does "need" to make a change to some extent he runs it by me and others first. Niether of us are changing anything about how the game is played behind the scenes.

unfortunately for some reason when you remove repairs below the orignal number is doesn't drop the BVP of a ship. so it has to go on the honor system and that line is there so (assuming everyone shows up) that the person who "owns" the fleet will get to fly it... otherwise it would just go straight off the roster and the fleet owner would not fly if he/she was not at the top of the list

No the rules I wrote, say that the Admiral who owns the fleet flys in it, and draws his wings from the roster. In my version the roster is only used for the wings of the fleet/owner who has engaged the enemy. I think Dlfy just wrote this in another way that seems a bit more confussing, as is evident by the various posts about this. This is only voided if a battle has been planned and as it starts the Admiral/owner is a no show. If that is case the top of the roster takes command as we are trying hard to restrict the delay of game with no shows. This is the first time we explore the manditory open battles and my biggest worry about that is the No Show player and possible delay due to that. Once fleet commanders decide on a battle time it must be done then regardless who shows up. Hence the absolute worst case default to A.I. This game could be won by the most dedicated team that regularly shows up, no shows on the opposing side could be the win. That is why I have planted a Virus on Dflys computer,.. right before battle ,.. crash!,.. HA! And he thought he was downloading the FTP program to modify the web site,.... snicker snicker,... ;D Good Luck to both Teams and may many a fun battle be had !

GRRRRR, I want a rule named after me! I caused havoc in B5 and deserve to have a rule with my name on it!!!. The Warp Factor Rule would be my 1st choice. Could read...named after infamous Captain FSD Warp10 as to prevent mutiny in future campaigns or some such verbiage.

I do think such a rule is due, maybe next cycle that can be done though it maybe should get stuffed in this one especially with the nature of it.
