I has a question. I am suspicious of the damage adjustments - in that it seems that the ships took additional damage during the 2nd battle, but their end damage rating is what the had at the end of the first.
Is there any way to know what the cumulative damage received is?
I kinda doubt it, but ...

We've already got our biggest stuff orbiting ZHD. We sent it that way a while ago, hoping that some other folks would show up for the big dance number.

Yes ken the rules,.. I know you never read em, state that a ship cannot exit a game with less damage than it entered with, so they default back to the higher damage.
Dfly just posted the results which is what he is supposed to do, not overwrite anything of the damage dump.

Hmmm. Not exactly what I meant. I also think what I am talking about is too complicated to be easily worked in, although it is more accurate. It addresses cumulative damage.
The repairs allowed during closing in a battle are considered temporary, which is why a ship reverts to the pre-battle damage % after battle, if ending damage % is lower than it started.
So, if I am at 86%, and use a bunch of repair while closing to create temporary repairs - repairs that CANNOT still exist after the battle is over. I am now at 100%, for sake of argument. During this battle, I get knocked down to 77%, a loss of 23%. What I am saying/asking about is why is the 23% not subtracted from the per-battle damage? Or why not some part of it? We've already established that the repairs are literally duct tape and baling wire, for the sole purpose of achieving temporary function - and that function and repair are gone post-battle. We furthermore have no guarantee that when a Hvy Weap mount is hit, that it's the one that has been taped together which will vanish post-battle anyway. So we know that sometimes, there should be 2 HW gone after the battle is over - one that was temporaily fixed and the other that was intact pre-battle.
It's a flaw, but in thinking about it, I don't think it's possible to fix. It is inherent in Sector Assault - there is no means to record a ships maximum health(i.e. after in-battle repair during closing) during a battle, only the end health. And there is no means to record what % of damage was inflicted duing a particular battle, if the ship started with damage(unless it had no repair whatsoever).

In the case of shadow ships sustaining more damage. than 100% over a series of battles. just think of them as using super spidy webs to hold themselves together! ;D

Ken I agree with you and I have not liked the fact that say the Shadow DNH that was at 30% health at game start gets repaired to 100 during closing, then takes 50% damage, (which is hard to do) and then walks out at the same 30%.
Problem: lets say you only repair it to only roughly 75% (you cannot tell a number during combat) so how can you actually gauge the level of damage it takes, during combat. You cannot.
Therein lies the catch, if someone has a way around that I would consider modifying the rule.
