Let me see if I can clear some of this up.
1-Proposal to have any ship damaged by more than 10% to lose all rights to spare repair boxes at the next battle has been accepted thus damaged ships stay damaged = good for the losing side
2-Proposal to have any ship damaged get repaired at any SAME OWNER planet, up to the total of the EP of said planet(ship must still travel to that planet). This repair takes 3 full impulses to come into effect. And the maximum repair(using current campaign) would be 20EP(EP output by that planet) worth per turn. IF that planet is attacked, it was proposed(by me) that the repairing ship is stuck on the planet(cannot defend) and if planet gets occupied by another, he now controls that ship as well as the planet. This helps minimally(due to minimal repairs that can be made per turn) the owner of the damaged ship, but also puts it in peril of being taken by the other side.
Don't forget, that ship still had to travel to said planet, and travel back. It just does not have to travel to the nearest base. If a player wants to repair bigger, or build closer to the front, he can build a base at that planet. This just gives a cash strapped player or one with few ships(or anyone else) a chance to get involved, and know he can do minimal repairs closer to the front.
I hope this helps clarify things.
Also, remember, we are having such difficulties vs the Shadows due to repair boxes. The next ships that get damaged more than 10% will be YOUR SHIPS, not the AI. YOU bet you want to have a chance to do minimal repairs without having to travel for 3 turns back to your homebase unless you are very badly damaged.
I also wish to propose one other thing. All ships that receive repairs at a non-base planet still receive no spare repair boxes ever, unless it returns to a Base Station for repairs. Those planets may have enough stuff to help you out but they wont just give you your repairs, and then your spare repair boxes as well.
I dont know if these proposals will make it into the next campaign, but I feel they would be very helpfull to all players, and something worth trying out. If we use them (some or all) and we find something does not work, we propose changes for the NEXT campaign.
