Who...Mongols? I don't know about that one but the Polish Cavalry under King Sobieski III "saved" Vienna from the clutches of the Ottomans in 1683...captured his tent and coffee supply. Got them hooked on coffee. Tent is still in Polish possession...sat in Polish Government-in-Exile Archives in London from 1940 until 1990.

Could be Budapest (Hungary) you're thinking of or maybe not...not an area I looked at much yet.

You're right. At that time it was Buda and Pest, two different cities

Now when was it that man first started killing man??? I am fascinated with all warfare and the classical period as well!!! Ramses II (12th C BC), King David, Alexander the Great, Hannibal, Scipio Africanus, Julius Caesar, Vercengetorix, Etc. Mankind is crazy but wired this way. I simply study in wonderment and awe at Man's ingenuity in destruction. Wish it wasn't so but its something I understand... I spent about 8 years in the Army and can say indoctrination works, everywhere (to varying degrees) throughout history... same game, different tools. End result is always the same..lots of people die and the side left standing "wins"

Exactly!!! Hence the insanity and my keen liking for Einsteins quote: "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

Brilliant!!! And a great fan of Sun Tzu and a slew of ancient tacticians. Battle of Alesia for example...52BC. Ceasar (with 40-60k Romans) traps Gaul Cheiftain Vercengetorix in hill town (Alesia) and builds fortifications around the hill trapping in some 80000 Gauls, but then 250,000!!! relief force of Gauls comes and Ceasar must build second line of defense to the outside. The beseiger becomes the beseiged and WINS the battle!!! Historical numbers may vary a little but its clearly a work of brilliance and a testament to the Romans...

Yeah, and when all the "civilians" left Alesia Ceasar wouldn't take them and they were left in the field to die of hunger.

um well if your bible reader actually the man killing man thing goes back to cain and able. {sibling rivalry?} If you follow evolution instead then blame it on nature as animals kill to survive. either way vilonce begets viloence, And makes for some great games!

Here's a good one. Nimrod defeating all the jewish cities except Judea, when his troops got sick and he left. Had he won, with his dispersal policy the Christian, Jewish, and Moslem religions would never be!

The best one is me screwing up on my orders and not plotting my WS at B5 to repair last turn, which enabled it to participate in the last battle at B5. LOL
