Hey, I mean only the weak ones, plenty of hardy North Americans all over USA and Canada. No offense to the strong, only to the weak!

The coldest I can recall was a stretch of about 2 weeks in Late Jan early Feb of1999. I was in Massachusetts, on the hills west of the Quabbin Reservoir. It didn't get above -10F during the day for two weeks, except in direct sun, and -20 was more prevalent. I saw -34F one night, and a bunch around -30F. Then, the cold snap broke. It got up to 33F that day! I had the day off, and around 1 pm found myself outside in my Sorel boots and boxer shorts cleaning dog slobber off the sliding glass porch door. And I distinctly remember whistling and thinking to myself while the sun beat down - "Man, this is sunbathing weather!!!" before I peeled off pants and shirt. In February, at 43 degrees North Latitude. In defense of my mental health, that, temperature-wise, is no different from getting on a plane in Boston, in January, and flying to Puerto Rico. That's a 60 degree temperature change in less than 12 hours.
Hottest was mid-July the same year. 115F in the shade. Akumal Mexico; 21 degrees North Latitude. You could literally cook eggs on the road - I can't imagine how hot it would have been if the road was asphalt instead of concrete(almost white). I went back to Mass. in early August and laughed at myself, having gone from boxer shorts at 32F to needing a sweater at 65F in 7 months time.

I am going to say 12-5-92 in Arizona. It was hot. Probably more so because 12-3-92 I was in Denver in a snow storm. It was so hot that on 12-6-92 the band I was following played here comes sunshine for the first time since 1974!! Oh to be young again.
