If they are looking as guests no, when a registered user is online it will show as online if you look under his avatar on one of his posts.
I have picked a large topic that most have replied to and thumbed down the list to see which profiles are online.
Due to folks viewing our boards (checking it out) maybe like you once were they may not be regular registered users.
If it ever become needed we can lock out folks who are not registered users, for now though I keep them open as a recruiting tool.
