1) Goto here for ideals and in particular models. Some models come with .exp files that allow easy export/import of ship statistics www.battleclinic.com/docks/dock.php?start=70&r=scripts/toolsThis is where most B5 models came from 2) Ships that do not have .exp files you need to build using the ship edit program and tie the build to a model This site has ship edit and insturctions, there is also a great read me for it once you install it under program files\eagle eye\readme.txt www.staryards.com/faq.htmFor me the hardest part of any game is a good story line.

Guess I must do a ton of reading then, if I am to run the next campaign.

Went to the sites , and downloaded a ship edit program, still trying to figure out how to use it . And how to tie that with models, then what you do once you have them how to import that ship to a ship list , so many questions so little few brains! Gee i wish i had some computer skills! lol

ship edit
once open hit File Open> target the shiplist you wish to mod.
Once open now you see all the races and ships
The model path is shown, change for different model.
I personally do not recommend doing what I did for the first time you run a campaign. There will be far too many regular questions for a new ref to deal with, without adding a bunch more.
I recommend only tenatively tinkering with the shiplist. Maybe for a few specialty ships for the campaign. Ones that might be critical for the game storyline.
I.E. I could export a Borg ship from Universe at War,.. then send you the .exp file. You then use the Shipedit command Import to bring that ship into the shiplist.
Adding like 10-20 brand new ships will be the same mess I had with B5,..
I had a lot of prep time, and prior knowledge of running games that I could really focus on the shiplist this time. I worry a new ref will bite off more than he can chew. Just be carefull, keep it simple and be ready for some work.
That should get you under way with ShipEdit.
Dfly I doubt you need to read much,.. you know much already it is just converting it into shipedit style of workings.

Or he could farm out the tinkering to people that are comfortable in tinkering with the shiplists i.e me and Blade lol

Yes I wish I had the resources available to a Ref as we do now. I would have farmed out much,.. with suspicion of course. The guy who makes the list can insert all sorts of nasty things that for most would undetectable. Like 1000 armor on all of Stargazers ships. And poor Dfly wonders why he lost the First Battle of B4

OK well i think i understood about half of that! But then i have not really tinkered much with the ship edit to date. Yes i agree completely with modding only a few ships. Actually i think i would only have to mod a three maybe four. The story line is still in rough draft form.Once i have it roughed out. I will have a better idea of what is required. Farming is a almost a certainty. I don't have the experience of being a ref, Although i have played in campaigns. So the more help i get the better off it would be for all.

Your biggest obstacle will be the lady,..
If you cannot even play as a player,.. well a ref will take more time than that ,...

Yup that could be a problem . But i have time when she is not around as i am off 3 to 4 days a week. My problem is playing time. As the time when everyone else is able to play. Is the time when she is home. But since the ref usually does not play in the game. i think i might be able to make it work. Anyway it is way down the road ! Dfly gets the all the fun next! hehe. I have alot of grooundwork to hash out yet.

I (Roman) am most interested in making ship models (the wireframe shapes we see). Anybody know the easies or cheapest or...software for that...got lots of visions/ concept ships I'd like to make (I know too many Piratemedications4u.com).

If you want to go legal you should try Milkshape, that's what I use to import/export ships into .mod format (the type of file the game uses for sihp models), chumbalum.swissquake.ch/, you need to install this plugin to save or load these files chumbalum.swissquake.ch/files/MilkShape%20Plugins%20R4%20No%20Installer.zip- This program has a 30 day trial I think, and is pretty cheap to register after that. If you want to build your own models from scratch, or do heavier tinkering than what milkshape can take, you can always get 3ds MAX ($3500) or Lightwave ($800) legally or........ But I would advise against playing around with those unless you're really into modeling.

Plastic Putty works best with food coloring additives, and all for under $10

Yeah, I know!. But that's how I lost my last PC. For some reason the CD drive wouldnt read my plastic putty model, even when I took the hard work of squeezing it inside. Then I loaded the M$ Paint program and pured paint on my hard drive to see if I could get some textures on SFC and my computer stopped working. Then I was abducted by maniacs that locked me up in a white room and gave me tranquilizers everytime I tried to warn them against the invasion of the cookie monsters.

URGENT MESSAGE FROM: Klingon Computer Lavatory, I mean Laboratory TO: Anla'Sha Na Na LMAO, LMAO, LAMA, Laama? LMAO, <Breathe>, LMAO! Need...<gasp>...www.PirateMeds4u.Com Actually trying to get one of those programs listed thru my Space Pirate contacts... Actually, my son and I (mostly me) figured out how to do ShipEdit, import Battleclinic mods (only the SFC2 ones), clip apart a very few mods (remove excess parts and clean em up), and even drop different colors on them. Kid likes that. We experimented as we did with SFB and added in our own phaser gunship race but have to find/ make proper mods to depict their containerized pre-fab boxy WWII looking ships. He has interest in setting up a campaign someday. So Harowgen count us in after this one to help out perhaps. We're keen on less B5 and more Early-Middle Years ships and even contemplated a trade war between several planetary systems with mostly armed container ships...a futuristic Hanseatic League. Less heavies and more light medium ships. But that's us. We've been toying with this for only a couple months watching you all so...you can do it Harowgen. Best idea, use ship edit to make a new named ship type, link it to a new mod you download (again make sure its SFC2 EAW/ OP capable cuz SFC3 don't work), and slap a sh##load of weapons on it and play it. We did that. Made a flying holy terror egg...yes...an egg. We used the Shield mod which is an oversized green egg and put way too much on it and had fun killing Klink B-11's a couple at a time. Shalafi shook his head and said "That's just wrong..." Too many PirateMeds4u
