After some tests.. and observations.... SFC DOES use a form of the "leaky sheild" rule out of Starfleet Battles... But.... the damage that filters through only hits hull and non critical systems... no power/weapons ect.... I think it's hull only..

Several players have noted my shield never went down how the hell could I have damage! This is why !

This is esp true with some of the x weapons

Scott, heavy Disruptors do that. If you had looked it up you would realize that some of the damage does in fact hit through the shields, and not all of it hits hull first. From the chart: Heavy Disruptor:
NOTE: Heavy Disruptors are able to occasionally "leak" a small amount of damage through shields. O/L Heavy Disruptors fired at range 0 will do a feedback damage of 4 to the shield facing your target.

actually ... they are handled differently... the actually can take out a weapon with their leak... the general leak from what I've seen can't damage weapons

example.... I put an Enveloped R torpedo into an untouched B11... no internals but it's hull bar dropped.

Yes Dfly I was aware of that, but I am refering to general cases of battle in which no odd ball weapons are used. Mostly it came up in the Shattered Mirror campaign. At the time I told the players tough luck, I mean I think it was leaky stuff

Bleed through damage seems more realistic

Actually there was great discussions about a year ago on Dyna about this. IT is not actually bleedthrough. Each and every hit on your ship is counted and measured against your hull, including your shielding. Now, granted it takes 6 shield hits to equal 1 hull hit, and losing a plasma R on a KE is equal to about 20% of the ship hit, but a plasma R hit on a Romulan BB would only equal say 5%, because the total ship and total points within the ship are much higher overall. No true internal bleedthrough, just some systems can still be mildly affected due to catastrophic hits, even if it does not break shields, but hits a big total of shielding at the same time for X % of point total of ship.
Clear as mud?

So the ships get battered in heavy strikes even with shields ...sounds ok.
