uhhhhh i hate to interject Scott but natural gas doesn't work well for cars... there's a whole alternative fuel branch in my department at school..... problem with natural gas is that it's nearly impossible to retrofit a tank big enough to drive anywhere onto a car... A standard sized gas tank retrofitted gets you between 50-70 miles for a SMALL fuel efficent car.

Natural gas cars are used all over the world and even our car manufacturers make them. They are just not sold in the USA. His plan is to increase the use of natural gas as a bridge while other technologies are developed like batteries. He does not want to retrofit them but have people and cities and truck companies start buying what is already manufactured by usa car companies. All he wants is fueling distribution sites. CNG is only part of his plan, he also wants major wind and solar developements. The range on CNG cars is huge. The get 29city/gallon 39/highway per gallon the compressed 250 mile range on one tank. The info is right here in wilkipedia for the CNG honda GX all of them have fine ranges. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Civic_GXFor further reading on how the rest of the world is doing this and we are not, this is a pretty good article www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2007-05-08-natural-gas-usat_N.htmLastly any residence that has a propane tank or city gas line can turn his house into a fueling station for about a 1000$ The goverment should subsidise such change overs or provide incentives for this. Why CNG/solar/wind,.. cause we own it and we have more production than we currently can use. Our money is not sent to countries who hate us. American jobs, keep our cash here, eviromentally better, the list goes on. Lastly it is a freaking plan,.. better than our current one or the plan we have been following for many years!

Yes that is true,.. it will likely cause the price of propane to jump and supplies to become tighter. Still it is meant as a bridge for the next ten years not a solution. So while we are trying to get battery operated cars on the road, towns and cities could start using these vehicles. Busses, truckers,.. etc. Ask Dlfy he is a trucker. Would he mind sitting on a huge can of liquid propane,.. oh nevermind that,.. It takes time to build a wind farm. Even for blowhard like me LOL I really want an electric vehicle. I fill up slightly over twice a month and that eats like over a 100 dollars a month. Who pays the most a month for gas ? Do we have any road warriors out there. Out of pocket not for a business. I am sure Dfly consumes lots of gas running a rig, but I mean who pays the most for personal driving?

well, i drive an extended cab, long box, with a cap on it, and a V8 under the hood, so gas consumption during the winter here(every road is a hill here) puts me in town at about 11 mpg. I do use some. btw, to fill my tank, with the low fuel prices right now, costs me just this week 118$
