The era is important and will again defer that call to better skilled folks who can realize the ramifications of each era on each race.
Good luck deciding all this George !
Things are just getting good in our current campaign, I think it still has legs so we have time. Umm, provided Mav doesn't win.
GO, GO, GO, STARGAZER !!

OK then. IN EARLY, do not take Roms. THey are way behind until late era in general. IN EARLY, Hydrans are most likely the strongest IN EARLY, ship choices become very basic for all races. IN EARLY, Drone races suffer for the speed 16 drones, but the Point Defences of enemy ships suck too.

Actually Shalafi showed an interest in early, so I thougth I would post that.
I will adresss Mid and Late at a later time.
OK then
IN MID. IF drones are speed 24, then drone races pretty much equal other races, if speed 16, they stay behind IN MID. Carrier races get much better fighters but must put up with improved defences on some ships in nearly all fleets, however carrier races still go well. IN MID. Most races get great improvements in their Light cruisers. IN MID. Very few races have descent Dreadnaughts but I think all of them now have some. If it is to be a "big ship" game, it would affect who takes what race.
I forgot an Early comment. Only a couple races get Dreads, which the Gorn one is the dominant one.

If we are considering a cat fight, The lyran is my most definite preferred race. But i believe much training would be required for most mirzak players. they are a hard race to play well. Their ships while fast are fragile. And even though they carry an abundance of missiles. they are not overly well armed with phasers. carrying many phaser 3's . and a usually lower number of phaser 1's compared to a lyran. I would recommend whoever wishes to fly them practice well before the campaign. also would the lyran have the choice of LDR ships?

strongly recommended no LDR ships for Lyrans, at any time other than a Lyran uprising vs Lyrans.

yea... I've litterally flown an LDR Destroyer head first through a wave of 14 drones and shot every on of them down.. without an ESG up

Thus why I say if mirak/lyran it SHOULD be with no LDR.
Lyrans only developped LDR ships due to the revolt and breakaway of certain Lyran Clans, who went to the Hydrans for G phaser technology.
