I believe teams will be drawn by the leaders. I hope counter-parts are somewhat evenly matched

As much as i love romulan ships. And i do love romulan! I myself would not care to play romulan in the early era. If you want to allow plasma ships in the early years i would suggest gorn or ISC. MY vote for teams would still be a Romulan vs fed mid late era no X ships. Or here's a thought. two races per team. a Klingon romulan team, VS a Fed Gorn. Federation, hydran VS a Klingon ,Lyran .Some interesting combination out there.

Extra races are a good ideal, in our last teams game we had expeditionary fleets from distant races to add a little flavor. So even though it was Fed vrs Klingon there was a fleet of Lyran and Gorn ships in the game. This one being a larger teams game could incorperate even more of that.
One thing I do not like about this current game is all Fed,.. It was done for balance reasons and such but it is just not as exciting.

lol... I'd love to run an expeditionary fleet... especially if doesn't have a set side... it makes things... interesting ;D

The worry with that is that it can unbalance the teams. What we want is a fair start and if you have a wildcard force, whichever way that force swings may then have an edge. It would not be my suggestion that the expeditionary fleets be able to go whatever way they wanted

We have much time to discuss the next campaign. Expeditionary forces wouldn't be realistic in this Scaled down idea, such a force would be used in a major battle or on a well-known front. The addition of pirates and freighters will add a different flavor to the campaign. But, as said, we have much to discuss

I think that Lyran vs Gorn is a good match. These races are fairly even but yet very diverse. It can make for a very good battle. Other options would be Lyran vs Mirak, Lyran vs Hydran and my favorite...Lyran vs Romulan. All this is of course if I am Lyran
