Something else that seems to be overlooked is how fragile some of the Kzinti ships are... yes a combined drone wave will smash a Lyran but if a Kzinti gets overrun well.... you quickly have a declawed cat

As I had told Scott, I will bet on the Lyran ship every time. Of course pilots come into effect, as well as tactics. One note of concern for me, is the LDR ships. Scott beleives they need to be in the shiplist as that would be the only effective way to stop drones, especially mirvs. I beleive if you leave the LDR ships in the list, the Mirak have totally lost hope. For those that dont know, the LDR ships are Lyran ships that have replace the rear 2 phaser3s on each side with Gatlings. The smaller ships have 1 gatling on each side, and the larger ones have 2 gatlings on each side. These gatlings fire LS for the left and RS for the right. I ask you, what drone ship stands a chance of hitting with drones when the defending ship has 4 gatlings(as many as a Hydran DN), and 6-8 phaser 1s to boot? BTW, they also have the ESGs, and shuttles.
I would recommend strongly to take the LDR ships off the shiplist. Remember, drones will be speed 24, so they can also be outrun.

NO No that was our battle that night Dfly. I asked no LDR in the battle. The campaign is not what I am talking about.
That topic to the best of my knowledge has never been broached. Here is my X ref suggestion.
No LDR, the ref should set as part of the 50/50 ship starts just a couple LDR to the less skilled pilots in the fleet. Never allow builds.

Don't tell them the secrets of the Lyrans! No LDR ships! AArrrrrggggg! J/K. If no LDR ships are to be allowed then maybe we should also consider limiting or not allowing any MIRVs. The reason I say this is to protect the less experienced players. I think if you put an person with little experience flying lyran (Non LDR) against a mirak with many speed 24 drones and Mirvs and Scats then the lyran will be toast most times. This does not apply to experienced Lyrans however. Maybe we could do as suggested for the LDR ships and allow Mirvs for less experienced pilots only? Just a thought.

Ya no LDR I was just razzing you guys. I still say a few players the greenest of the green could maybe get a small LDR ship in their fleet. Ref's call, no biggy either way.

Well.. if you want to get picky the LDR technically should be on the Kzinti side ... that whole enemy of my enemy thing ;D.... I wouldn't have a problem with some of the less experienced Lyran fliers to have an LDR frigate or destroyer ... as long they STAY as their ship.
